The owner of this property in Hanson, Massachusetts approached us. They purchased the original, 1-story 700 square foot home as an investment property. To maximize their rental potential, the owner approached MassTech with the idea to do a 2-story addition. The new build is 1,560 square feet, 2 stories, 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths with a basement that has potential to be finished for additional living space.

After a thorough inspection, it was determined the most economical plan was to tear down the original building and build an entirely new unit. The original foundation was in a state of disrepair.

With the original foundation being only a crawl space, MassTech decided to completely remove it and pour a new foundation featuring a full basement with build-out potential.

MassTech framed out the entire, new 2-story home enclosing it with the industry-leading zip system weather.

Our crew completed this build to “weather tied” status, meaning we completed all of the framing as well as exterior finish work including windows and doors, roof, siding and PVC trim.

MassTech worked with the owner to build an affordable 12×16 deck to maximize the outdoor living space.

Throughout the project, MassTech handled all of the administrative work including permits and meeting with building inspectors at the site. Our client was left extremely happy with the build and was able to secure a rent that is significantly higher than they would have otherwise on the original 700-square-foot home.
