Cape Cod homes work harder than most — hosting extended family all summer, weathering ocean storms all winter — and Barnstable County is where MassTech’s additions work gets its most interesting assignments. The two projects below tell the story.
In Truro, a historic hilltop home needed an in-law apartment. We coordinated the foundation excavation and pour where the old garage stood, built the new structure, and connected it to the main home with a covered, finished catwalk. The same project replaced the primary home’s roof around its historic dormers, added two skylights to an art studio, and built code-compliant egress stairs with a small deck for private, around-the-clock access — all completed in under 20 days, because on the outer Cape, the building season doesn’t wait.
In Barnstable, a 25-year-old elevated mahogany deck became a future-ready outdoor room: expanded from 10 to 14 feet deep on six new concrete footings with 6×6 structural posts, framed in pressure-treated lumber and finished in composite decking and railings — engineered from day one to be enclosed later as a three-season porch.
In-law apartments, guest wings, decks and porches built for eventual enclosure: that’s the Cape’s rhythm, and we build for it — permits, inspections, and salt-air-grade materials included. Estimates are free anywhere in Barnstable County.
