MassTech Roofing helped an area investor build this brand new home in Wellesley recently listed on the market.
The old home which was demolished
After the old home was demolished by the investor, MassTech was brought in to do all of the exterior work starting with framing the entire home.
During the framing
Following the plans from the investor’s architect, we installed Hardie board siding in a modern farmhouse style along with black Anderson windows.
For the roofing, we used investor-supply GAF shingles and installed aluminum, standing seam metal roofing accents along with black gutters. To complete the modern farmhouse look, we also installed PVC board and batten which is designed to last for decades to come with virtually no maintenance (just power washing).
The modern farmhouse look lives or dies on its contrasts — crisp siding planes against black window frames, gutters, and metal roofing. And the standing seam on the accent roofs isn’t just aesthetic: those lower roof planes over entries and porches shed snow and ice faster than shingles, which matters on the sections people walk under all winter. On a spec build, the maintenance profile is a genuine selling point too — the buyer gets the farmhouse aesthetic without the repainting cycle real wood cladding demands.
Handling the full exterior — framing, roofing, siding, windows, and trim — under one contract meant the flashing and weather-barrier details between systems were installed as one continuous assembly rather than negotiated between separate trades. That’s where exterior work usually goes wrong, and it’s the main reason investors bring us the whole package.
